I got the idea to create InThePublicInterest.net well before the 2020 campaign started. This project was designed to provide Democrats with a robust answer to America’s problems which was different from the program provided by the Progressive movement. Donald Trump, the Progressive movement and most of the mainstream media and academiawould like America to believe that the only alternatives are Donald Trump or a clone of Bernie Sanders. Fortunately, Democrats wisely chose to nominate Joe Biden, and he wisely chose Kamala Harris as his running mate. Everything in this effort will be aimed at furthering their vision of America and of America’s decency and democracy.

The events of 2020 altered my approach and my timing. While the technical challenges of creating a new venture in the time of a pandemic are obvious, the real problem is that Donald Trump and the Republican party highjacked my project and compelled me to rethink time and again how best to advance Democratic values-and have forced me into positions I never could have imagined advocating.
