. How We Know Hunter Biden Did Nothing Wrong
. A few moments of using our common sense can tell us that Hunter Biden did not violate any criminal law. How? Let’s see.
. First, a little background. The GOP presents Hunter as being an entitled son of a high government official who was best known for having a drug problem. The reality is more complex. After getting a law degree, he worked at MBNA America, a bank holding company, and rose to executive vice-president. He then served three years in the Department of Commerce during the Clinton Administration, primarily in the area of e-commerce. He worked as a lobbyist during the George W. Bush administration, and was appointed by President Bush to the board of directors of Amtrak, where he served for over two years. When his father became Vice-President, he resigned from the board of Amtrak and stopped lobbying. He then joined a law firm and opened up a venture capital firm.
. After Ukraine’s Revolution of Dignity of 2014, Burisma, a large energy company, wanted to clean up its image. It added Hunter Biden to its board of directors, as well as a previous president of Poland. While $50,000 per month for a board director might seem like a large amount to most wage earners, given the task and the need to hire outsiders believed not to be tainted by, corruption, no doubt the company was willing to pay large sums for what it wanted. A perceived connection to Vice-President Biden did not hurt Hunter’s job prospects. But there is no indication that Burisma got any benefit from any Biden connection.
