I truly have to give you credit for writing such an even handed column, given that I believe that your sympathies are more with the Palestinian rather than the Jewish population. Allow me to suggest several possibilities for the concentration on whatever defects other people think Israel has. First, there have been 100 generations of antisemitism baked into Christian culture, which has barely begun to be erased in the last three or four generations. Second, given the widespread acknowledgment of the evils of colonialism, the intelligentsia is sympathetic to whom they perceive as being the darker skinned population in any conflict with whom they believe to be a lighter skinned population. Third, the intelligentsia is sympathetic with any group seen as being opposed to the United States and the West. Fourth, Muslim nations have contributed large sums of money to American universities and have exercised control over the scholars receiving those funds. Those scholars teach students throughout the United States.
