I understand your point of view, but, considering the powerful emotions the confession awakened, it made me think the confession may have awakened memories of events or conversations he might have suppressed because they seemed minor at the time. I would.still investigate if I were he. It is increasingly easy to be unfaithful and increasingly easy to rationalize it. Also, if it were all so innocent, why did it burden the wife so much she had to confess it?
