I wish you were right. I am not sure. What is amazing is how much of the country has barely paid attention to the proceedings. Trump has proved the ability of sensory overload to distract people and to divert attention from what he does. The Democrats rationally calculated that catching Trump with his hand in the cookie jar would be a simple narrative for all to follow. What we have proven is that denial is not just a river in Egypt. The single most depressing fact in this entire business is that Trump’s popularity has remained stable for three years — basically between 42% and 46%. He fell below a few times, but not many. If Democrats haven’t learned from 2000 and 2016 that they better vote-straight blue-or else the GOP will crush them.
