Let me assure you that I read every word of that piece. While I agree that, because you lived in Texas, your 2008 vote for Nader did not affect the outcome. But, if one per cent of the people who voted for Nader in Florida voted for Gore, we can be sure Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito would not have been nominated for those vacancies. Gore would have chosen two progressives-and, back then, his choices would have been confirmed. If Hillary had won in 2016, there would be no Justice Gorsuch or Justice Cavanaugh. Justice Thomas would be alone on a Supreme Court with eight liberals. You don’t like the level of outreach to minority communities by the current leadership of the Democratic Party? I’m not stopping you from running for committeeman in your local Democratic Party. Progressives all over the country are forming groups to do so. Here in Philadelphia, they are having substantial success. In 2017, a progressive was nominated and won election as the District Attorney of Philadelphia. Politics in America works by addition-not subtraction.
