Progressives, At Least Nominate the Stronger General Election Progressive Candidate
. Bernie Sanders has won the first three contest for the Democratic nomination. If this trend continues, he will shortly have wrapped up an insurmountable lead in delegates. Sanders has proven to be dominant in this field because he has a clearly articulated set of positions which he has held for years. While in the past he has taken some positions which clearly have been taken with a view to being able to win office in Vermont, he is now taking. mainstream progressive positions on guns and immigration.
. The candidate whose positions seem closest to those of Sanders is Senator Elizabeth Warren. Senator Elizabeth Warren would be a far stronger general election candidate. If Bernie Sanders and the progressives are interested in having progressive positions enacted into law, Senator Sanders would withdraw from the contest for the nomination and support Elizabeth Warren.
