. Respectfully, I believe you may be confusing explanation with advocacy.
. As for my 401(k) argument, it may very well be that Barack Obama had a better economic record than Donald Trump. However, I recall reading that President Obama felt that it would be poor form to praise the growth in economy because it would be taken by those who. have been left behind as a criticism of them. Further, as unwise and unjustified. in the long term as the large Trump tax cut was, it did result in record low unemployment levels for many low-and working-class people for a time. Obama didn’t use his bragging rights. Trump did.
. It is clear that many working class and middle-class people have been persuaded to support policies and elect candidates who oppose their economic interests. Is it that the Right is possessed of such intellectually superior operators that the poor but honest folks on the Left have no capacity to compete? Or is there another explanation? Is it possible that the Left, because of aspects of its history which go far beyond the minor issues of message but rather go to the very nature of the Left itself, is unacceptable to many Americans as a source of ideas?
. Too many people think that the choice that America faces is Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders. That is simply not true. The inability of the Democratic Party to advance a forward thinking but non-capital P progressive message has left our country in the plight that it finds itself.
