Trump’s Executive Order on Anti-Semitism is Good for Civil Rights
. To say the least, Donald Trump has been a catastrophically bad President of the United States. Even if there were no preexisting plan for Russian assistance, Putin clearly helped Trump get elected. Trump should have been impeached on Inauguration Day for having already violated the Emoluments Clause. Trump is intellectually and morally unfit to be President.
. That being said, Trump has done a (very) few good things. Trump took on China on trade. Before he tried to weaponize it, Trump provided lethal weapons to Ukraine to help them fight back against the Russians.
. One of the best things he has done was his announcement that he would issue an executive order classifying Jews as protected under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as a nationality. As was stated yesterday on whitehouse.gov:
President Trump’s order makes it clear that Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 applies to anti-Semitic discrimination based on race, color, or national origin.
When enforcing Title VI against covered anti-Semitic discrimination, agencies will consider the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism as well as the IHRA’s contemporary examples.
. That definition, plus examples, can be found at holocaustremembrance.org:
