Wasting food is a sin-an even greater sin when there are hungry people on earth. But I must respectfully dissent to what I believe is your operating assumption is that less food waste in the First World would automatically translate into more food aid for developing nations. At one time, it would have seemed axiomatic. Unfortunately, as I am sure you know, Americans of good will are engaged in trench warfare against a segment of our people who, to it it mildly, have gone down a strange path. Once America gets on an even keel, food aid can be increased. The changes you advocate have merit. Change takes time. But people eat every day! I, and everyone of good will, is sickened by accounts such as yours. I and others contribute to charity. I hope the government will increase food aid soon.
