What a truly excellent piece! I am truly sorry about your experience with the Daily Kos. Unfortunately, it is only the latest example of the drift of the academic Left toward not just groupthink, but toward a catechism so rigid that any deviation from a rapidly changing set of doctrines is cause to be banished beyond the pale. The failure of candidates to pass purity tests cost Al Gore and Hillary Clinton the Presidency-and cost America four liberal Supreme Court justices. And the idea of seeing the questioning of the capabilities of a candidate for a nomination as somehow improper is insane. Exploring a prospective nominee’s strengths and weaknesses is a rational thing to do before we actually choose one person and want that person to be the best nominee. Hopefully, today’s young people can learn manners, if not respect, in discourse. I’m not holding my breath.
