What happened to this officer was horrible-but so believable. You performed a real service in letting us know about her mistreatment-and her ultimate victory. My experience is that most cops are basically good-but that it takes real courage to go up against the Blue Wall of Silence. You are too young to remember the Knapp Commission and Officer Serpico in New York City in the Seventies. Let me just say that what happened in the Floyd case and in the case here is that even good officers can get paralyzed when it means going against the officers with whom they serve. If the stories of officers who spoke up, paid a real price but eventually prevailed were told more often, perhaps more officers would be able to summon up the courage to emulate them.
