What Kenosha Told America
Rising crime means less tolerance of protest
The jury in Kenosha Wisconsin today give a verdict not only on Kyle Rittenhouse but also on protest movements. In a time of rising crime, caused in part by the pandemic but also by other factors, the public has had it with those who want to “defund“ the police and to attack government in general. The left saw Rittenhouse as a vigilante, inserting himself in a place in which he had no interest in taking action. The right saw him as a citizen who, in earlier times, would have joined a militia to protect a nearby community. Progressives might want to reconsider some of their tactics and messaging.
