You are absolutely correct. I lapsed into rhetorical laziness, using “Russia” as a stand-in for liberal democratic capitalism. The German far left thought it could replicate the Communist success in Russia in 1917. You are correct that all the far left did in Germany was to divide the anti-fascist voices.
